22 Year Old Set To Leave Celtic - Sky Sports

According to Sky Sports, the 22 year old Celtic winger is set to join MLS club Charlotte FC after a deal worth £10 million was agreed between the Scottish and American clubs.

Celtic will receive £10 million for Liel Abada. This coming week, the Israel international will travel to America for his medicals and is set to finalize his move to the MLS side, as Sky Sports reports.

The Israel international was signed for Celtic during the 2021 season for a reported £3.5 million fee. Celtic are set to receive a handsome profit after the sale of the 22 year old forward.

Former Leicester City and Aston Villa coach Dean Smith, who currently works as a coach at Charlotte FC, is a great admirer of Liel Abada. The later will play now under Dean Smith.

Celtic signed Liel Abada from Israeli side Maccabi Petah Tikva for a reported fee of around £3.5 million four years ago. Celtic won the race to sign the 22 year old winger after strong interest from top clubs around the world.

Due to injury this season, Liel Abada got fewer minutes on the field, and there were a few issues off the field that we can’t neglect.

As Celtic coach, Brendan Rodgers also confirmed last month that Liel Abada could leave Celtic Park due to concerns for his family because of ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

The last game Liel Abada played for Celtic was against Hibernian on February 7, which the Scottish club won 2-1. One major statement from Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers admits that he (Liel Abada) “wasn’t in the right frame of mind.”.

Liel Abada has scored 22 goals and had 29 assists for Celtic in 112 appearances. Under former manager Ange Postecoglou, Liel Abada played in a lead role and won the treble: the Scottish Premiership, the Scottish Cup, and the Scottish League Cup.

For Celtic, Liel Abada has won:

Scottish Premiership: 2021–22, 2022–23
Scottish Cup: 2022–23
Scottish League Cup: 2021–22, 2022–23

The Israel-Hamas war had an impact on Liel Abada’s career at Celtic because the Green Brigade fans group had shown support for the Palestinians shortly after the conflict began in October 2023.

Following these demonstrations, which drew criticism from the Israeli media, Abada met with senior management at Celtic. Celtic then released a statement stating that the fans’ displays of those slogans were “inappropriate.”.

Abada was hurt when the conflict began and only rejoined the squad in December.

It was “challenging” for Abada to show his best form under the circumstances, according to Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, who later stated that Abada might depart the team in February 2024.
