Birmingham City is now open to talks with the 50-year-old manager, Gary Rowett, who also managed the Blues during 2014–16.

For an interim managership that will last until the end of the season, Birmingham City is looking to former manager Gary Rowett.

Tony Mowbray, Birmingham City’s current manager, has been given time off while he heals from a medical condition. After being put under temporary management, his assistant manager, Mark Venus, was unable to secure a win, and as a result, they are now squarely in the thick of the relegation struggle.

Due to sickness, the 60-year-old Tony Mowbray withdrew from front-line management duties after Sunderland’s 2-1 victory, creating a vacancy that Rowett now appears set to fill through the conclusion of the season.

During 2014-16, Gary Rowett managed 106 games for Birmingham City, in which he won 42 games, 32 games he lost, and 32 games he drew, where the win percentage was just 39.6%.

As a player, Gary Rowett also played 87 games for Birmingham City, where he scored six goals.

The last club he mamanged was Millwall in 2019–2023.

In 1995, Rowett joined Blackpool on loan from Everton and began playing for them. Under Sam Allardyce, he made 17 appearances for Blackpool in the Second Division during a season that saw the Tangerines finish in the middle of the league. Due to his success at Blackpool, he was able to transfer to Derby County and gain promotion to the Premier League.

During his playing career, he also played for Burton Albion, Charlton Athletic, Leicester City, and Birmingham City. In 2012, he was promoted to manager at Burton and went on to manage Millwall, Birmingham City, Derby County, and Stoke City.
