Exclusive: Celtic want to sign 22 Year-old on permanent basis this summer

Celtic currently sits at the top of the table in the Scottish Premiership with 71 points, although their rival club Rangers Football Club is on second with 70 points and one game in hand.

That means it’s not sure yet who’s going to win the league this season. With the international break, Celtic will try to utilize more time on the summer transfer window plans.

We have already confirmed that 36-year-old goalkeeper Joe Hart announced in February that he will retire at the end of this season.

We also broke the news yesterday that Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, who was already wanted by Celtic, will be available with a price tag of £12 million during the summer transfer window.

More Celtic Football Club news is popping up, and this time, according to A Bola, Celtic have made it clear that they want to sign Paulo Bernardo on a permanent basis this summer.

This season, the Benfica loanee has made an impression at Celtic Park, and his loan agreement includes a buy option valued at €7.5 million (£6 million). Even though they are eager to sign the central midfield player on a long-term basis, the Scottish powerhouses are expected to try to lower the asking price when the transfer market opens.

Naturally, Celtic and Benfica get along well. In 2022, the Bhoys bought Filipe Jota for an estimated £6.5 million after he had a successful loan spell at the club. Even if the winger is now playing for Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, Celtic’s excellent negotiations with Benfica remain intact.

Bernardo, who is only 22 years old, is already a key member of Celtic, and they need to use every opportunity to convert his loan from Benfica into a permanent agreement this summer.

Bernardo, who has only made 11 starts in the Scottish Premiership this year, will undoubtedly be hoping that a permanent transfer to Celtic Park comes with a guaranteed starting spot. Given that he has started Celtic’s last three games, there are indications that this could also be the case.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has also praised Paulo Bernardo regarding his loan spell. Celtic fans, share your views in the comment section below…
